Introduction

My name is Peter Forbes and I’m a senior studying computer engineering. I’m particularly interested in hardware design and mobile development. I chose to study computer engineering because I genuinely enjoy programming yet I also have a strong desire to understand the way modern processors and IC components are designed. While taking this class, I hope to learn about new issues in the computing sphere and share some of my own opinions on issues I’ve already explored.

In my opinion, the most pressing issues facing computer scientists today are mass surveillance and the ethical use of data, especially as our capability to collect data and survey individuals continues to grow. I would be particularly interested in discussing these issues.
